#3 NYC Street Style

I recently hit the streets of Manhattan, camera in hand, ready to see what's trending in this fashion community. The streets of Manhattan are so unique! I've never experienced anything quite like it and its one of the many reasons I fell absolutely in love with this city. When you step out on the streets of the City, the pavement becomes your runway. No matter where you're headed people are watching and checking out your style, so always be prepared.

In the fashion capital, what appears on the runway isn't always what appears on the streets. Sometimes, quite the opposite happens. Many designers are incredibly inspired by this city and its no surprise why. New Yorkers have their own individual styles and have the power to start trends and influence what shows up on the runways.

I just so happened to stroll around 5th avenue down by Union Square. During the spring and summer, Union Square is one of my favorite places to visit because its always so alive! When I strolled around a couple days ago, one trend that immediately caught my eye were these big, lightweight, puffy, down coats! I've been seeing them absolutely everywhere in this city and the majority of them were black or dark grey. I did notice some navy blue ones and even some purples. And this trend is not restricted only to young people. I've seen men and women of all ages wearing them around the city. I'm not too sure how I feel about them in terms of style yet. I used to hate them but they're actually starting to grow on me now. Maybe I'll have to pick one up during an end of the season sale! ;)

#2 Fall 2012 Trends- Perfectly Plaid

As New York Fashion Week comes close to an end, we're already noticing some hot trends to keep in mind when buying for the next fall season! While examining the offerings for the season, I saw a lot of cool trends, and one that kept popping up in menswear was the use of plaid.

And not the flannel shirt we've seen just about every male in America wearing for the past decade, but plaid blazers, jackets, and pants. I've seen them in black, tan, mustard, blue, green, and even some red. But they're not really a very bold plaid, its more muted in fact. I, for one, and a huge fan of the Michael Kors mustard plaid pants Hermes plaid blazer!

So if you can catch a nice plaid blazer or jacket during an end of season sale, I would definitely invest in one for this next fall season! You might even be able to wear it a little during the spring season too!

L.A.M.B. Fall 2012

Yesterday I had the great privilege to attend the L.A.M.B. Fall 2012 show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! The only other runway I have been able to attend was last season's Vera Wang show, which was incredible.
Gwen Stafani's collection included a lot of black and white, mixed with some highlighter yellow, neon pink, and touches of red and green. She used a lot of houndstooth in this collection, along with 80's plaid, and bold stripes. Here's a bunch of my favorites from the collection!
I loved the pops of Neon yellow and pink in this sweater.
Also, the pants were like a black leather in the back.
They were so cute.
For some reason, this reminds me of Effy from Skins (UK version of course)
This outfit makes me think nascar jumpsuit mixed with a catholic school girl plaid print.
I just love how it came together.

And how could you not put in a schoolgirl outfit?
I loved the high waisted, pleated skirt and the peter pan collared shirt.

I just really loved the print on this dress.
I wish I would have grabbed a picture of the back though!
And of course, the cat eye glasses!

If this doesn't scream 80's, I don't know what does.
I loved it though. Its very different and almost makes me think of  that Galactica Arcade game.
Well the middle of the shirt anyways.

I loved this turtleneck in the neon yellow color!
I think it just went so well with the plaid shorts and stockings.
Normally I'm not a fan of bright colors like this, but I just loved this for some reason.

Ahhhhh. Mixing a bad girl biker jacket with a school girl pleated skirt.
Yesssssssss Gwen.
Oh and I'm not sure if you can see the shoes so well, but they were killer.

Pattern mixing. I love it.
I was a big fan of the bold stripes here.
I also really enjoyed how the stripe size varied on the sleeves so it wasn't all the same.
Ahhh I loved this plaid pattern!
I think the shorts are way cute.
And I love how well it paired with the sweater.

And the final Amy Winehouse Beehive haired beauty I really enjoyed was this one.
Normally, i would think this much plaid is just too much.
But I think I really enjoyed this one because theres not too much going on in the plaid.
Its still a very simple pattern, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Well that's all for my little review on this show! All in all, I think her designs really spoke to her target clientele. Good work Gwen. You definitely exceeded my original expectations with this one.

#1 Blogs that I Like

One blog I really enjoy looking at and reading is Seaofshoes.com!
The author is Jane Aldridge, and I love how effortlessly fabulous she is.
She loves vintage clothing and dresses to impress every single day.
This is one of the first fashion blogs I started reading, which helped change my
career path from being a medical lawyer to being a fashion merchandiser

Another blog I really enjoy is TheStyleRookie.com!
The author of this blog is little Tavi, and I use the word little because she's only 15 years old.
Even at such a young age, Miss Tavi has already created a very popular fashion blog and has even been featured in TeenVogue Magazine.
She also has her own website called RookieMag.com which is like an online magazine for teenage girls.

And finally, I recently stumbled upon a blog call KateLovesMe.net.
The author is Pelayo Diaz Zapico.
I really enjoy how he posts his different daily outfits, and also reviews fashion shows that he likes.
I also think he has incredible style and I just adore how urban and trendy it is!
This is definitely a blog I'll be keeping up with.
